Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for gifted services, students must qualify in 3 of the following 4 areas:
Mental Ability - minimum of 96 percent in at least one sub-test area
Achievement - minimum of 90 percent on the total reading, total math, or complete composite
Creativity - minimum of 90 percent on an assessment for creativity
Motivation - minimum of 90 percent on an assessment for motivation
Creativity and motivation are based on a national normed standardized assessment given in October.
Notes:
**Assessment scores are valid for two years.
**Private test data may not be used to determine eligibility.
Gifted Models
The State of GA requires schools to service gifted students using one of the following classroom models:
Resource Class
*Teacher must have the endorsement
*Students are pulled from homeroom class and served during a segment of the day
Cluster Grouping
*Regular classroom teacher must have gifted endorsement
*Identified gifted students are served in a regular classroom; however
curriculum modifications are made for gifted students
Advanced Content
*Teacher must have gifted endorsement
*Identifed gifted students are homogenously grouped with other students while maintaining a class size of 23 in the elementary setting.
***Based on the nature and needs of the students at Oak Grove Elementary, students are served in both the cluster and advance content models.
